Your Estimated NYC Trip Budget
| Expense | Estimated Cost |
|---|
These are planning estimates, not quotes. NYC hotel prices in particular can vary substantially depending on dates, demand, events, room type and availability. Your actual trip cost may be higher or lower.
Not included: flights, shopping, Broadway shows, nightlife, airport transfers, travel insurance and other personal expenses.
The calculator estimates four major parts of your trip:
- Hotel: Estimated accommodation based on your location, hotel style, travel month and length of stay.
- Food: A daily food allowance based on your chosen dining style. Children are estimated at 50% of the adult food allowance.
- Transportation: Estimated daily local transportation based on how you expect to get around New York City.
- Sightseeing: An allowance for attractions and sightseeing experiences based on how much you plan to do.
The estimate does not include flights, shopping, Broadway shows, nightlife, airport transfers, travel insurance (highly recommended) or other personal expenses.
Why is there a range in the estimate instead of one exact number?
New York City doesn't have one fixed “cost per day.” Hotel prices can change significantly depending on the month, type of room, number of occupants, location and demand.
Dining and sightseeing costs can also vary depending on your choices. That's why we show a planning range rather than pretending there is one exact price.
The headline estimate, cost per day and cost per person are rounded midpoint of that range, giving you a simple number to use when thinking about your trip budget.
